Erik Evy – No Harm, No Foul | Light-hearted & Fleeting

Find No Enemy

Kartik Sundar

Oct 8, 2021

Erik’s brand of hip-hop is ripe for the summer. Cheery, to the point, and mildly infectious, it’s got a laidback energy that signals for good days ahead. Meant to be enjoyed with some good drinks, great weather, and better company, it exudes good vibes. The song’s about love, but not from any angle of nostalgia or wistfulness. Instead, Erik chooses to playfully deride and jest about the foolishness of the game of love, injecting his lyrics with plenty of punchlines that point out the hypocrisy of it all.

Strong influences from Mac Miller and Dominic Fike ring true throughout the record, with Erik’s delivery and production style clearly drawing strong inspiration from the artists. There’s an ease to his music, a simplicity that can turn a stoicism into joy. The first single from his upcoming EP, ‘No Harm, No Foul’ is the perfect laidback tune to enjoy the opening of the world. As the summer cools off and a few good weeks of weather surround us before the cold of winter, enjoy without a worry.
