DOWN STREAM BY ERIK EVY: REVIEW: Illustrate Magazine

May 16, 2023 Full Link

Erik Evy’s neo-soul-infused rap track “Down Stream” gave me chills. He’s got a way with words, and the rhythm mechanics had a natural chemistry with his voice. Rrarebear and boyfifty were on production duties, and they both did a fantastic job. The instrumentals feel fresh, as clean guitar chords intertwine with funky beats for a wholesome sound. Altogether, “Down Stream” was an astounding rap song that deserves mass praise, so let’s dive in to grasp the specifics!

“Down Stream” leads us into a flow of oceanic guitar segments that diverge into a wave of melodies. Eventually, when the tide subsides, a poet emerges, forming natural words of the world. His words are as smooth as Louis Vuitton silk and as passionate as a musician’s first notes. Erik’s rap technique is intentional. It’s not too fast or slow, and the pacing is just right. He leads us into his lyricism like a friend inviting one over just to chill. It’s comforting and satisfying to hear, and even more so when the instrumentals back him up. “Down Stream” is stylish, it’s soulful, and the entirety of the track is a joy to hear. Once you hear it, you’ll grasp my statement more clearly, folks.

If you seek a hip-hop ode with an interesting tone, then “Down Stream” by Erik Evy should be the track you seek. It’s a lovely take on the genre through inspiring songwriting and vibing rhythms. So, don’t miss out on it!
